HOMESTUCK MAKEUP SERIES!

KANAYA MARYAM
(picture belongs to andrew hussie)

I know this may be a little different, but i'm very much into this web comic known as Homestuck!
The fandom is HUGE and full of very creative and talented people! I've seen so many amazing cosplays, and while I haven't ever cosplayed myself, I thought it would be fun to do a makeup series for each of the female characters!
The first character, or, "Troll" on my list was Kanaya! I really love her because she is extremely fashion forward and is known to love wearing a jade green lipstick! Now, I do not own any jade green lipstick and had to improvise with a NYX jumbo eye pencil and some eye shadow, BUT, it worked out in the end!

I guess i'll get straight to it and share with you all how I pulled off this look :)

Start off by priming your face and eyes! I unfortunately do not own a face primer and it's not needed, but recommended!

Next up, use a black base on your eyelids to help your eyeshadow stick and pop out more! I'm using NYX's Black Bean for this look

.
Don't forget to blend it out!

Next up, get a small eyeshadow brush/paddle brush and pack on some greeen shadow of choice! Here i'm using the green directly under my brush from the coastal scents 88 Shimmer Palette!

You really have to pack on the color with this particular eyeshadow! But it's worth it in the end!

I'm sorry for the blurry shot, but I took a small angled brush and used the color directly underneath for my crease!

Here I am adding that darker green into my crease! Just use a windshield wiper motion!

Now grab a clean fluffy blending brush and blend out any harsh edges.

This is what it should look like so far!

Now take a sparkly black (or a matte black, either is fine!)

And with a pencil brush/precise brush, add a very small amount of the black to the very outer corner of your eyes and slightly into the crease. You just want to darken it ever so lightly! Also, bring the black under your eye a bit, so it's all connected.

Remember that green I used earlier? Well if you go directly up from it, you'll find this pretty light green color!  I am using it as my highlight shade.

I went under the arch of my brow, inner corners of my eyes, and swept the color under my eyes to meet that black/dark green.

I took a liquid liner and did a cat eye, starting from the middle of my eyes, and working to the outer corners.

It should look like this!

I took my 88 Original palette and used the exact same green (in the same spot as the green from the shimmer that I used on my eyelids), took a small blush brush, then adding some contouring to my cheeks.

Now I took my Black Bean and LIGHTLY added some of it to my lips and blended it out. I then used that dark green directly above the Jumbo Eye Pencil in the picture, and packed in onto my lips. It was a little too dark, so I put a little of the green from my cheeks onto the very center of my lips.
(OOPS! I did add a small coat of black mascara, but that was too tricky to try and capture!)

Now for what you've all been waiting for! The completed look! :D

I hope you all enjoyed reading this, and please leave a comment below to tell me what you think!

Robo Bee Tutorial

FINALLY a tutorial for you guys! It's a simpler look, but cute nonetheless.

PRODUCTS USED:
MAC pigment in Chrome Yellow, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Almay one step dial up Mascara, NYX's jumbo eye pencil in MILK, and the three silvers and black in the Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer Palette.

Prime your eyes with the shadow insurance (or your primer of choice). Glide on some of MILK and gently blend out over your entire lid. With a small paddle brush, apply from the inner corners of your eyes to just past your pupils, some of Chrome Yellow. You wanna kinda pack it on to make the pigment pop more. There will be lots of fallout so I highly suggest dusting some translucent powder under your eyes to brush off later.
Once you've applied the yellow, take the lightest shade of sliver (on the very upper right corner of the palette) and apply it to the outer corner and slightly work it into your crease. Move on to the color beneath it, adding it more to the crease. To darken it a LITTLE MORE, add that third silver color. Focusing mainly where your natural shadows cast (I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE!!) Get a fluffy clean blending brush and blend out any harsh edges.
Take MILK and add a highlight directly under the arch of your brow and blend it out. This will counter act all that shimmer going on! Lastly, with a small angled brush, take that shimmer black in the very bottom right corner of your Shimmer palette and pack it into your lashline. Make a small wing along the end of your lashline. I decided to use shadow over liner to keep this look looking soft :) Apply mascara and dust off any access fallout, and finish up your look with your choice of blush and lipstick! ( I went back and added a pink/nude lip and a soft pastel pinky blush)

OH! I also added some of Chrome yellow and the lightest silver color under my eyes :)

I hope You guys enjoyed this and if I left anything out or if you have any questions, leave a comment below!

HELLO!

So I've decided that I am going to stay with my work for a few more months, hopefully up until the fall/winter, then I'm going to move on. I just am not happy there and I've been really thinking about going to school to finally get my GED. (i dropped out january of '09 due to some issues with the school) I've gone to a few GED classes, but I have a real hard time with math, so I need extra help when i'm working on it. Paired with my ADD and anxiety, GED classes are pretty hard for me to go to :c I know in some states, you can just take online classes, but here in Nebraska, they don't give me that option :c

But! My plan is to get a part time job that will hold over my bills, and then goto classes to get my GED and even get a tutor if need be. Once I get my GED, I'm thinking about going to school for hair. I know I will have more freedom with how I dress And I'll be able to color my hair whatever I want. Plus, I think I could easily build up a good clientel that would let me do their makeup as well. I have it all planned out, and I'm really hoping that I can make this all happen.

On a makeup related note, I actually haven't purchased anything since the Paris Palette came out! It's a new record for me but I had to save up for an upcoming vacation :) I'm realllly dying to try out some of Revlon's new products and I need to stock up on some of NYX's rollerballs and jumbo eye pencils! Other than that, I can't think of anything I really want to buy!

Have any of you found any good products lately for the summer? Let me know in the comments below! ♥

UPDATE

so i know i said i'd be back on here with some new things, but the reality of it is, i just don't have time right now.
A lot has happened at work (drama drama drama :CC ) and i've had to cover a couple extra shifts. I am hoping things will settle down after this week though.

I've also kinda of run into an art block...but with makeup. I've been so stressed out i've neglected wearing makeup and really haven't had much time to think about it. I DID, however, purchase Sigma's new Paris Palette and am DYING to get it in the mail already! I am, no matter what, going to be posting pictures and swatches of it. I'm sure there will be so many others out there doing the same thing, but whatever! I'm super excited about it and just know i'll be using it everyday :)

I hope you are all doing well and i'm so dang sorry i've neglected this blog :C i'm sure you all understand though ;3;

Weekly Review: Kat Von D's True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Mi Vida Loca Palette

For my 20th birthday this year, one of the gifts I received was a 50 dollar gift card to Sephora. This palette is one of the items I bought with it :)

I really love this palette! The packaging is absolutely beautiful and I could seriously stare at it for a good hour. It's made out of a sturdy metal or tin. The art work is done by KVD herself and is very colorful and eye catching. It is fairly small and would be perfect for traveling! You open this palette by pushing a little button that will cause the top to spring open. Inside it's lined with a nice black plastic that is very sturdy and sleek. A large mirror is placed nicely inside the top half of the palette. Under that is where the 8 beautiful shadows are :)

These shadows vary from matte to shimmery and are all fairly smooth and easy to apply. I will state that some of the colors take a bit more work to get a good color payoff. With a base though, it won't be as difficult to work with. Now I love all these colors because they are all so cute and springy! I am a huge sucker for pastels and shimmer, so this palette is just perfect for me!

Included with this palette is an Autograph Pencil in Wonderchild. It is a deep navy blue and is very creamy and easy to blend.

Here are some swatches for the shadows!
From L to R: Swan Song, Marya, No Regrets, Drama for yo Momma, Mad Max, Dublin, Sparklehorse, and Altruism.
These all have such fun names that I think are personal and significant to KVD. I think the names behind products are always so interesting and fun, so I really love what she chose for these colors.

NOTE: i did not swatch any of these under a base, but if you guys would like me to, just leave a comment below!

Overall I have no complaints for this product! I'm very much in love with it because it's so versatile! You can create a very subtle day to day look or you can spike up the volume and make something a little more go getting! If you have a spare 36 dollars to spend, I would highly recommend this to you!

I hope this was a good review for you guys and if I missed anything or if you think I should add something, Please let me know in the comments below! I want to post things that you guys want to know about, so any and all feedback is very much appreciated. :)

+Day 14: What is your favorite makeup look that you want to recreate?

Gosh I think it would have to be Xsparkage's Tropical Cocktail Makeup look!

This is such a fun look that is right up my alley! I would love to recreate it and maybe someday, I will! I love the perfect mixture of warm and cool colors. That teal liner above her lash line really wraps this whole look together, in my opinion. Her lid colors remind of a mix between a smoothie and the sunset :p

I don't think I have all the colors needed for this look, but I know I could make something similar! How fun this will be to do!

+Day 13: Why do you wear makeup?

I wear makeup as another form of expressing myself.
I don't have the luxury of being able to color my hair pretty colors (due to work) and I rarely wear anything besides work clothes anymore. Doing my makeup is the one thing I will always be able to do, no matter what sort of job I have. I love all the ways I can apply it, all the beautiful colors and shades, and I love the thrill of the hunt when a new product comes out.
Makeup compliments the natural beauty I already have and it's just so amazing that I am capable to make certain features of my face stand out. It takes years of practice and learning to fully know every inch of your face. And years more to learn the face structure of others. But practice is key, and the payoff is so rewarding. It's such an adrenaline rush (for me at least) knowing you've done a good job.

I know that others out there feel the same way I do, and i'm glad to know that i'm not the only one who has a passion for this. :)
